Private Cloud- An Overview

    Private Cloud

There is so much to understand in the world of the internet. Every concept has so many more underlying concepts. Each tool has so many further varieties within it. Every other day we come across a new term in the web world. One such term that you might have come across is “private cloud”, are we right? We ought to be. You reading through these lines implies it. We also understand that you probably feel lost at the sound of the term. But let us break it down to you. We have brought to you this blog that deals with the private cloud deployment model– what it is, how it works, who uses it, and so on. So start scrolling!

    What is a private cloud?

Before we go into what is a private cloud, let us first understand what a cloud is. We often hear this term, but do you know what a cloud is?

A cloud is a storage that comprises both hardware and software systems and is responsible for sourcing out varied and virtual resources as and when the users demand the same. These storages are built in a way that they can keep up with the changing demands of the users.

Now, different organizations and different people would require a cloud to store and provide different information for and to them. This is where the cloud deployment models come into action.

Private cloud is such a cloud deployment model. A private cloud system provides the information stored in the database of that cloud to selected users only. The services of such a cloud model are provided within and limited to a private internal network. It is a server and a data center which is dedicated to serving only one organization.

HP Data Centers or Ubuntu, are great examples of private cloud.

What are the advantages of using a private cloud model?

Private cloud storage has a series of advantages. That is why they are so much in use. What are the merits that can come from using a private cloud model? That is exactly what we have discussed down below.

This is one of the main differences when it comes to the public vs private cloud. Public clouds need to be accessed by everyone. The system therefore obviously suffers a compromised level of security. But not private clouds. The entire system of a it is accessed and maintained by one organization or service provider only. The information stored in public cloud storage is therefore highly secured and cannot be accessed by just about everybody.

Private cloud infrastructure is managed by a single organization. It is not subject to different opinions and nor is it accessed by a range of individuals. Private clouds therefore can be taken care of more intimately, keeping track of changing client demands and opting for a change whenever one is needed. The owners can be more prompt with their actions, exercise greater authority over their infrastructure, and therefore provide better service.

    Customized data

This is not a “one size fits all” kind of a scenario. You need to provide every client with what they want individually. For that it’s systems are the best option to go for. They can customize the data according to the company and the kinds of clients they deal with. The users will easily be able to get hold of the information they are looking for.

    Geographical availability

This might come as shock to some, but there still are such places where public cloud services do not reach. For those places, it is really easy and way simpler an option, if they just create an internal network for themselves. They will be able to access all the data that they need and at the same time do not need an external service provider to help them out.

Now, this is not true that private cloud deployment models do not have any drawbacks. Everything that exists had a good side to it and a bad side. The virtual private cloud system has its drawbacks too.

For instance, a private cloud is not as scalable as a public cloud would be. They are accustomed to serving a single kind of clients only.

However, issues of this sort will always be present. You need to figure out which is the best option for you at the time. It’s models are the best choice to go for if you are looking for cloud storage for your organization that will be catering to and storing the information of that particular organization only.
